The NSB Vacation Home Story
My mother was looking for a place to winter in New Smyrna Beach, and the options we found were either filthy or outrageously priced, or both. Truly, every year she was disappointed in what she found, and I saddened by my thinning wallet. So rather than keep looking for a place that didn’t exist, I chose to not renew my long term tenant's lease, and put a new paint job on the old rental.
Well things kinda snowballed from there. I ended up knocking down walls, opening up kitchens and creating bathrooms that inspired envy. At some point I realized that my marketing job was no longer as satisfying as taking a blueprint in my brain and making it a reality, so I quit. A few handy friends, YouTube and I began tearing things apart and tinkering with things from home depot until we had stumbled into something delightful.
Then my 11 year old son told me about a duplex for sale on North Cooper Ave. Within a few months I purchased it, and began tearing it down to the studs and rebuilt it. This was fun because I had a completely blank canvas from which to work. Namaste Here and Buddha's Bungalow were born. They are located just a stone's throw away from Flagler Ave, near all the fun of the nightlife, shopping and restaurants that New Smyrna Beach has to offer.
Once the dust settled on that project Covid hit, and well, people flocked to the beach in AirBnB rentals. A realtor friend of mine called me up and told me that there was a triplex for sale in the short term rental zone near the the ocean. It was a mess, but I couldn't help myself. After some tough negotiations, I ended up the owner and called Joe back from Ohio and my handy friends, to yet again, create lemonade. This property became Lantana, Dune Daisy and Sea Grape and they are great.
My guests love what I had made, and have left me dozens of five star reviews on Google and AirBnB. I love happy guests and making sure that they enjoy New Smyrna Beach as much as I do. My aim is to host the best vacation rental in New Smyrna Beach.
